Mitcham & Carshalton were the victors in their first Home League match of the season against a very physical Reigate Rugby Club, winning 21-12. Playing on the club’s President’s Day, the home team were the stronger side for much of the first half, leading by two converted tries from man of the match, Centre George Howe as well as Prop, Luke Halford.

Mitcham begun to lose their shape in the second half, with the game becoming more fragmented and irratic, which allowed Reigate to get back into the game with two very well executed tries from the backs, scoring in the corners on both occasions.

This recovery was short lived however, with Mitcham’s Howe bursting through the line once more and offloading to Full Back, John Duggan for an easy third try. In the final moments of the game, Reigate could have caused an upset however opted for a penalty kick, which was then missed.

This win puts Mitcham & Carshalton Third in Surrey 4 and will play Old Suttonians on 21st October.
