Jean-Pierre du Preez Signed By The Sharks
The Sharks announced today that they will be signing the South African second-row player directly from the Toyota Cheetahs. This contract will be for at least two years long, with immediate transfer and effect to the Carrington training venue, where Jean will need to also complete an isolation of 14 days, from his international commute to the UK.
The Gallagher Premiership Rugby is available for fans to tune into from www.Sportsbet.com.au, where there will be live fixtures, In-Play betting amongst other services available for your own personal streaming and access.
Jean stands currently as the tallest player to play within the Gallagher Premiership. At 2.09 metres tall, he is making history within this league of rugby. During his career, he made appearances within the Golden Lions of Johannesburg, which in fact was his debut to rugby in the year 2015. Afterwards, he went on to progress forward to Toyota Cheetahs, with 26 appearances in the Super Rugby and Pro 14 series.
The Sharks Director, as quoted from BBC Sports, has said how he is highly eager to see what Jean-Pierre will bring in terms of skills and quality to his position within the team. After the Sharks were hit with multiple injuries, one after the other, during the previous season, you can say this new addition is great news for the team, with new opportunities.
Jean-Pierre will join the team of other South African players such as, Robert du Preez a fly-half, one of the back-rowers Daniel du Preez, in addition to another 10 teammates who share the nationality.
Latest updates in regard to the pandemic
The latest regulations for COVID measures were updated by the club from the 20th November of last week. This review has taken into account all the 2019-20 season and the response will minimise the threat of the pandemic in future games to come. It is not just the Gallagher Premiership that is being affected by the pandemic, but every major sports league and other relative sports internationally.
The Premiership Rugby have agreed that games that will be affected for COVID purposes can be cancelled, yet a scoring basis will still be provided, as if the teams played. For the team responsible for the cancellation i.e. contracted virus cases, will only receive 2 points. The team that was not affected by any symptoms will receive four points instead. Continuous in-game testing and training testing, will allow plenty of time before games to declare a COVID free/or not team. This introduction of protocol and management should keep the virus transmission as minimum as possible.
The regulations for non-COVID related circumstances have been agreed upon and declared. This will allow all fixtures to have an equal treatment in the process of the games to commence. The rounds from the first to the twenty second will not be available to postpone, however, only the weekends this will be permitted to delay or cancellation due to circumstances that are out of control i.e. weather reasons, will be permitted and taken into account.
