WINTERGREEN PARTNERS WITH THE RUGBY HIVE

Building on their commitment to grow the sport of Rugby in the United States, Wintergreen™ has recently joined forces with leading rugby podcast, The Rugby Hive, as official sponsors for their highly anticipated second season. Founded in 2020 by former international Rugby 7s players, South African, Dallen Stanford, and Canadian, Robin MacDowell, The Rugby Hive connects with legendary players and coaches from around the world: gaining expert insights into their careers, fond memories and imparting advice for the next generation.

“The Rugby Hive is delighted to partner with Wintergreen™ in North America. We believe in their mission and ability to aid athletes before, during and after training. We’re excited to showcase Wintergreen to our community as we both grow the sport of rugby in this region,” says Rugby Hive Co-Founder, Dallen Stanford. “”On a personal note, I am thrilled to partner with fellow Rondebosch Boys’ High School alumni Justin Clohessy, founder of Wintergreen. We both share fond memories from our own rugby days playing local highly competitive derbies against SACS, Wynberg and Bishops in South Africa.”
Season Two of The Rugby Hive Podcast is set to launch later this month, building on the extremely successful Season One in which Dallen and Robin interviewed 24 guests – ranging from Rugby World Cup winner, Springbok Bryan Habana, to Japanese Women’s Head Coach Lesley McKenzie. In Season Two, the pair will continue to talk with current and former international 7s and 15s players and coaches to uncover interesting stories, discuss their fascinating journeys, and hear their advice for the next generation. Season 2 promises to be as entertaining as Charlie Sheen on a night out, with the hosts bantering up a storm with a new A-List of rugby royalty from around the world.
“Wintergreen™ is synonymous with rugby in South Africa and is an integral part of our players warm up, support and recovery rituals, something we hope to pass onto all USA players,” says Justin Clohessy founder of Wintergreen™. “We are super excited to be involved in rugby in the USA and believe that having the America’s on board with this amazing game will help to continue to grow its popularity worldwide! We cannot wait for the American public to love this game as much as we do!”
Stanford has been involved with the American rugby landscape for 18 years, having represented USA on the World Rugby Sevens Series from 2007 to 2009. Since 2015, he has been a lead commentator for World Rugby, covering the 2019 Rugby World Cup, 2018 Sevens World Cup, Sevens World Series, Americas Rugby Championship, and Major League Rugby on CBS Sports Network and Fox Sports.
MacDowell played for Canada on the World Rugby Sevens Series, going head-to-head against his Podcast co-host! He transitioned to coaching, and has vast experience at the international level, most notably five years with the Mexican Women’s National Sevens team through the 2018 Rugby World Cup 7s in San Francisco as well as their Olympic qualification and appearance. For the past six years, MacDowell has worked with the Canadian Men’s and Women’s 7s pathway programs.
